It All Started With…

BETCO Scaffolds has a rich history that dates back to 1945. It was established in Houston, Texas, by Edward C. Gilbreath, who initially opened SAFWAY Scaffolds of Houston, Inc., a subsidiary of a family-owned company based in Dallas/Fort Worth. As an employee and later as the branch manager, Gilbreath purchased the Houston location from his employer and founded Builders Equipment & Tool Company, which eventually became known as BETCO Scaffolds.

The company started with Ed taking orders in the morning and delivering scaffold himself to Houston area jobs in the afternoon. Over the years, BETCO Scaffolds expanded its operations to include branch locations in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and Beaumont, servicing all of Texas and parts of Oklahoma and Louisiana. BETCO Scaffolds is recognized for its dedication to safety, quality products, and excellent customer service. The company has been awarded the ABC Excellence in Construction Award multiple times and has received the ABC Platinum Safety Award for seven consecutive years. Today, BETCO is still privately owned by the Gilbreath Family, spanning three generations, and is known as one of the most innovative scaffolding companies in the country.

Training

Construction employees are pretested before hire to be assigned a certain craft. Once hired they receive an eight-hour class per OSHA requirements. Then the employee is sent to Safety Council for more specific training required by customers. All Carpenters, Leadmen and Foremen are trained through the Scaffold Training Institute as a competent person.
